The agreement

You can download Loomwork for free, use it for as long as you like, write a hundred books with it, and never owe us a thing. If you choose to subscribe to Pro, you pay us $12 a month for the additional services described on the pricing page. You can cancel any time.

Your work is yours

Everything you write in Loomwork belongs to you. Every word, every outline, every research clipping. We do not claim a license to it, we do not claim a copyright in it, and we do not train any model on it. The file on your hard drive is the canonical copy.

What we promise

We will keep the editor working on supported versions of macOS. We will keep the file format readable, forever — it’s plain Markdown, so even if Loomwork stopped existing tomorrow, your manuscript would still open in any text editor on Earth.

What we don’t promise

We do not promise zero bugs. We do not promise feature parity with Scrivener. We do not promise the optional research assistant will always be available; if our model provider raises prices or shuts down, we may have to change it. The free editor will keep working regardless.

If something goes wrong

Back up your work. Loomwork is a folder of plain text on your hard drive; copy it to a thumb drive every so often, the way you would with anything else you care about. We are not liable for data loss, but we will do our best to help you recover.

Refunds

If you sign up for Pro and decide within thirty days that it isn’t for you, write to us and we will refund the charge in full. After thirty days, you can cancel and you will not be billed again.

Changes

We will email anyone with a Pro account before changing anything material. The free editor will not be taken away from you. Last updated: April 2026.
